Women in Sports Business Symposium
"Get Your Head in the Game: Connect with Peers, Meet a Mentor, Leave a Legacy”

Women in Sports Business Symposium 2008 In 1993, Jim Warsaw founded the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center so that University of Oregon students could learn about sports business in the classroom and through interaction with industry leaders. Over the past decade, the Women in Sports Business Symposium has become a cornerstone in the achievement of Jim's vision. In addition, the Symposium gives Oregon students the chance to celebrate and honor business leaders of today. Thanks to community support and participation of some of the most influential women in sports, the Symposium has grown in scope and national relevance.

In 2005, the Symposium began honoring a woman in the industry through the Women in Sports Business Symposium Woman of the Year Award. This year, the Warsaw Center and Symposium will honor Donna A. Lopiano, Ph.D. former Chief Executive Officer of the Women's Sports Foundation, as the 2008 Women in Sports Business Woman of the Year.

This year, the event will continue to meet the overarching goal of providing a forum for students and industry leaders to interact, educate, celebrate and honor women in sports business. To accomplish this, the day's agenda is as follows:

  • Registration and Networking: 2:00 - 3:00pm
  • Welcome, Agenda and Introduction of Panelists by Paul Swangard: 3:00 - 3:05
  • One on One with Donna A. Lopiano, Ph.D. former CEO of the Women's Sports Foundation and Gert Boyle, Chairwoman of Columbia Sportswear: 3:00 – 4:15
  • Industry Panel: 4:30 – 5:45pm
  • Registration and Networking Hour: 6:00 - 7:00pm (refreshments; beer and wine bar)
  • WSBS Annual Awards Dinner: 7:00-9:00pm

Thank you for your interest in the 2008 WSBS event. Seats at this year's event are limited, so please register now! We hope to see you at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, Oregon on April 17th.
